The "Passionate for Progress" Gala brought more than 160 people together for an evening of dining, dancing and fun at the Perkins County Fairgrounds on Feb. 17. A silent auction, live auction and online auction that offered special lodging packages through Travel Pledge supplied laughter, friendly competition and some generous donations to help Western Sky Community Care Center continue working to restore nursing home care to Perkins County.
Area volunteers prepared almost 30 desserts and other treats for a Sweets for the Your Sweetheart giveaway. Silent and live auction items were donated by area individuals and businesses. All 20 tables were full, thanks to the generous support of our community and the sponsors who invested in this event.
Tim Holzfaster of Ole's Steak House catered the steak dinner. Servers were high school and junior high students who volunteered their time and energy to make sure everyone enjoyed their meal. (And Pronto Convenience donated pizza to make sure the servers enjoyed theirs.) Auctioneer for the evening was Duane McClain of Nebraska Land Brokers. Matt Chandler-Smith of Orpheus Music provided emcee services and music for the dance and the decorations were provided by Something Borrowed. Priority Seating and Glassfully Simple made seating and sipping comfortable and elegant.
So many volunteers came together to make the event a success. Please take a moment to watch the slideshow of those who contributed or sponsored by clicking on the "Gala Sponsors and Donors" article. You can also see a slideshow of items that were a part of the silent or live auctions by clicking on the "Auction Review" article.
Thank you! Together, we will succeed in establishing Western Sky as a nonprofit nursing home in Perkins County.
